Nearly Invisible Solar Modules
for Standing Seam Roofs
Sunflare’s PowerFit 20 is a light, thin, flexible and nearly invisible solar panel that brings you energy without the ugly. Sunflare’s new PowerFit 20 lies flat and fabulous nestling in between the seams of your metal standing seam roof. For those who value the power of aesthetics as well as power of the sun, these are the modules for you.
Don’t Just Take Our Word For It
We could talk all day long about our product. But wouldn’t you rather hear about from a solar installer who has actually worked with the product?

How Are They Different From Regular Panels?

The vision-changing solution we have all been looking for. This solar panel is light, flexible, thin, durable, and created to exacting specifications.
Traditional cells are made with silicon, which is brittle, and are covered with glass, which can be damaged by hail. Sunflare modules start with a flexible, stainless steel substrate with a layer of semiconductors less than one micrometer thick. Then they are covered with a polymer top sheet. So you can be sure these modules won’t crack under pressure.
Easy Installation
Fast and low-cost installation. With PowerFit there are no roof penetrations needed. The modules come with a butyl adhesive backing--just peel and stick for a secure hold that can withstand gale-force winds.
Better at Dawn and Dusk
Sunflare delivers more energy than traditional solar in low light conditions.
Better in Poor Weather
Cloudy days, fog, and high humidity, no problem.
Shading
Whenever you talk about solar, you need to consider shading. The panels might be shaded by trees, debris and neighboring buildings that can affect the amount of power the panel produces. Sunflare modules are better than traditional silicon panels in partial shade. Each cell has a bypass diode--that means only the shaded cell turns off. Other panels have one bypass diode per string, so that if one cell in that string is shaded, the whole string goes out. Depending where the shade is hitting, the whole panel could be knocked out.

What affects how much power my panels generate?

Solar irradiance

Solar Irradiance is the power received by the panel from the sun. Irradiance is effected by time of day, time of year, whether you are in the sunniest of states or the cloudiest, and whether there is shading from nearby trees and buildings.

So even if you have a 250 watt panel, it might only be able to produce, 150 watts depending on where you are and when.

Performance of the semiconductors

The good news about Sunflare as it relates to power production is two-fold:
1. Our panels are better in partial shade. Each cell has a bypass diode so that only the shaded cell turns off. Other panels only have a bypass diode per string, so that if one cell in a string is shaded, the whole string goes out. Depending where the shade is hitting, the whole panel can be knocked out.

2. Sunflare produces more energy at dawn and dusk because our chemical make-up of our semiconductors produces more power in low light performance. And more power at midday when temperatures are hottest because of the low temperature co-efficient of CIGS.
